Client Spotlight: Pearl & Company

Some clients bring more than just products into the world—they share their hearts, their healing, and their purpose. Today, I’m honored to feature Kelsey Davey, founder of Pearl & Company, a small-batch candle business built not just from wax and wick, but from a journey of resilience, courage, and compassion.

The Story Behind the Flame

In June 2022, Kelsey—then an on-duty police officer—responded to an emergency outside a grocery store. While rescuing someone from a locked car, she sustained a devastating wrist injury that dramatically changed her life. What followed was a period of deep darkness: the loss of independence, mental and emotional strain, and the need to rediscover her sense of self.

In the quiet moments of recovery, Kelsey turned to small rituals to bring herself peace—lighting a candle, slowing down, and reclaiming space for self-care. Those moments became sacred, and eventually, they became the seed for Pearl & Company. Every candle is now a symbol of her healing, and yes—she still hand-pours each one with the same hand that was once injured, as a bold reclaiming of strength and purpose.

What They Offer

Pearl & Company candles are more than beautiful—they’re thoughtfully designed for conscious living:

  • Non-toxic, phthalate-free, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and vegan

  • No artificial dyes, made with a plant-based wax blend

  • Hand-poured in small batches in Massachusetts

  • 100% cotton wicks (lead- and zinc-free)

  • Clean burn time of 40–50 hours

From fragrance to flame, every detail reflects Kelsey’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and emotional wellness.

What’s in a Name?

The name Pearl & Company is a beautiful tribute to the animals that helped carry Kelsey through her recovery. Pearl and Ezra (her Great Pyrenees dogs), and Marvin and Bubba (her cats), were her quiet companions during the toughest of days. They are her “company,” her constant support, and the heart behind her brand.

Looking Ahead

In 2025, Kelsey is focused on growing Pearl & Company with intention. Her goals include:

  • Expanding product offerings and reach

  • Deepening connections with the candle-loving community

  • Continuing to lead with heart and integrity

This isn’t just a business—it’s a mission-driven brand that honors healing, self-care, and creativity.

A Fun Fact

People might not realize that every candle is still made by Kelsey herself. Her attention to detail and her personal story are literally poured into each product. And if you catch her at a local market (events are posted monthly!), you’ll experience her warmth and passion firsthand.

Words of Wisdom

Kelsey’s advice for new entrepreneurs?

“Success doesn’t have to mean scaling big. It might mean freedom, connection, creativity—or just doing what you love. Own your version of success, and build around it.”

Powerful. And true.
